9 Healing Mantras and Journal Prompts For When Stress Takes Its Toll

It’s no secret that stress can affect us emotionally, mentally and physically. But struggling to cope with stressful situations can also take its toll on our mental well being. Are you battling racing thoughts, worries about the world, uncertainty about your future, or fears? Left unchecked they can debilitate us.

If you catch yourself constantly worrying, or have a difficult time concentrating or making decisions you can be experiencing chronic stress. The last several weeks have been extremely dramatic and chaotic for so many. I’ve been feeling the affects myself with personal and professional situations affecting my own well being. Last week my body said enough, and I got sick from all the stress.

To help regain balance I have established a daily practice of journaling, and mantras.

I invite you to do the same. My book Find Your Happy Daily Mantras is an excellent resource to help us start off the new year with intention, focus and harmony. It provides 365 days of inspiration and daily motivation. It is great for daily practice, meditations and journaling. Feel free to repeat these mantras to help you release pain, setbacks and disappointments.

Mantra #1 “I RESPECT EXPIRATION DATES”

I release the pain I am holding in my heart. I let go of the anger because I know it is no longer serving me. My internal angst is a reflection of unhealed wounds that need more love and focus. As I seek inward to take comfort in my pain, as I move through my emotional frustration, I can see that anger is no longer needed for I forgive all involved and instead focus all my energy on healing the pain.

Journal prompt:

What painful situation or person has made me angry, and how can I focus on healing the pain?

Mantra #2: “I AM HURTING AND THAT IS OKAY”

I am hurting but that is part of the process of healing. It is okay to feel these emotions. I choose to dive into this pain, rather than numbing myself or running away. My pain has a message for me and I can learn from this experience. I embrace all of life’s experiences and feel them fully.

Journal prompt:

Where have I blocked myself from feeling?

Mantra #3: “THINKING I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE IS A CHOICE”

I am in charge of my own life and make choices from an empowered position. Everything in my life is a choice, and at any time I get to eliminate what no longer works for me. I am brave and honest as I remove myself from situations that cause me stress or distress. I always have a choice to feel good and make joy my priority.

Journal prompt:

What situation do I feel stuck in, and how can I see it from a new perspective?

Mantra #4: “I LET GO OF WHAT THE UNIVERSE IS ASKING ME TO RELEASE.”

I am open to living my life in expansive ways. I do this by releasing all old patterns, situations and people that no longer serve me. It is not mean or selfish to put myself first. It is an act of self-love. I see evidence of my love-filled actions when the universe guides me to new awareness and directions.

Journal prompt:

What has the universe been asking me to release?

Mantra #5: “MY PLAN B COULD BE BETTER THAN PLAN A”

I am connected to my life’s ultimate plan. I trust the universe and see the plan unfolding in front of me. I embrace new opportunities for growth and I expand with love and light.

Journal prompt:

What plan feels forced or like it no longer fits in my life? Can I let it go?

Mantra #6: “I SURRENDER THE STRUGGLE.”

I am not off track in my life; everything is better than I realize. I let go of trying to make things happen how and when I want them to happen. There is a better outcome awaiting me when I let go of trying to figure it out. Instead of trying so hard, I let the Universe support me and solve my problems with grace and ease. I surrender the struggle.

Journal prompt:

What problem can I step away from and let it work itself out?

Mantra #7: “I RETREAT INWARD FOR INSPIRATION.”

What I am is love. What I choose to manifest is more love. My true self inspires everything I do, which is a reflection of true love. I am full of love and kindness and compassion, and I express my real self to the world. In all my experiences, I choose to focus inward for answers.

Journal prompt:

How can I allow more inspiration in my life?

Mantra #8: “I PRAY FOR THE HIGHEST GOOD OF ALL INVOLVED.”

I release my need to have the situation resolved in a certain way. Instead, I surrender the entire process over to my higher power. I pray for the highest good for every single person involved. The situation will resolve itself when I stop worrying. I let God take the lead.

Journal prompt:

What situation can I hand over to the Universe?

Mantra #9: “I AM ONLY TRAPPED BY MY ILLUSION.”

I am not a victim of my current situation. I focus my thoughts on loving energy and choose to see the truth in all troubling situations. I know I am capable of moving through difficult times and I am only trapped by my negative thoughts. I turn to positive expectations and I am free.

Journal prompt:

What could be in my life? I spend time focusing on what I want instead of what I don’t want.
