4 Easy Tricks to Reduce Anxiety and Ease Stress

Have you felt, the energy shifts and density over the past several weeks and months? So many people are sharing in my 1:1 coaching and at events their anxiety and stress levels are through the roof. If you feel overly stressed, you are not alone. Nearly 1 in 5 adults say their mental health is worse than it was in the previous year and 77% of people feel that stress affects their physical health The American Psychological Association published a report, “Stress in America is a National Mental Health Crisis.”

When I talk about stress, I don’t just mean deadlines, demands, or family dramas. The biggest stressors are often the ones we have little to no control over – environmental toxins like pollution in the air and water, the chemicals in the foods we eat, the amount of noise we experience, and even the artificial light and electromagnetic frequencies in our environment. This stress impacts us all. Yet another type of stress that goes unchecked is our ego-based mind – the inner meanie — emotional stress and mental anxiety. Don’t forget to tame the inner critic during this time by being more aware of your thoughts and practicing self-compassion and kindness.

Since April is National Stress Awareness Month, I wanted to share some of my go-to’s for anxiety relief.

Step 1: Add in Adaptogens

Adaptogens are stress-busting herbs and mushrooms that can help the body find balance in the face of daily stress. They are plant-based herbs filled with complex compounds that can help your body regulate, mediate, or adapt (hence the name “adaptogen”) to physical or psychological stress by interacting with your cells. Adaptogens come in multiple forms—edible powders, capsules, and gummies; tinctures, and topicals—and work in a variety of balancing ways.

Some of the daily adaptogens are Ashwagandha, Reishi, and Maca. I mix it into my smoothies, put it into my morning coffee or green tea, or sprinkle it over my lunch or dinner.

Step 2: Eat Clean

When I am overwhelmed, stressed, or feeling a lot of anxiety, I look at my diet and eat as clean as possible. This week I’ve been eating the Methodology, the premium, whole, unprocessed protein and fiber-rich meal plan. Eating clean helps optimize our gut, and improve energy, metabolism, and mood.

I’ve been also practicing mindful eating, where you savor each bite of your meals, paying attention to the flavors, textures, and sensations. Take time to eat without distractions, focusing on nourishing your body and enjoying the culinary experience.

Step 3: Move the Body

Exercise, dancing, walking outside in nature, and focusing on movement can help relieve stress and improve your mental state.

Step 4: Get Creative

I love to be creative and when I am stressed it is usually because I am overwhelmed and worried. When I overthink it is impossible to focus on joy, but being creative is part of our natural expression, so getting creative, exploring helps us be more present. And when we are present we can feel more relief from stress and worry.

I love to get creative in the kitchen, in fact I am working on a wellness book and have been sharing some recipes with friends, family and on social media. Here is one of my favorite for stress relief.

Ayurvedic Latte

Reduce anxiety and improve sleep with this delicious herbal remedy in a mug. It’s creamy, naturally sweet, and deliciously balanced. Shilajit is commonly used in ayurvedic and Chinese medicine to help with chronic fatigue. Both boost powerful health benefits, such as healthy aging, longevity, and vitality.  These ancient herbs are great combined for next-level latte lovers. I love this one ice or warm.
