The Most Important Thing You Can Do for Your Well-being

In 2009, when my doctor diagnosed me with clinical depression, I was suffocating in a corporate job that felt meaningless, I was trapped in addictive cycles and also trying to overcome an eating disorder; I hit the bathroom floor, crying. I asked, “Why am I going through this? Why am I so lost?” and my inner voice said, “Because you aren’t being true to yourself. FOLLOW YOUR HEART.”

At the time my fear and anxiety was so heavy I didn’t know what my heart wanted, but I knew what I was living wasn’t fulfilling. So I asked myself, “What do you really want?” and one desire at a time emerged.

One step at a time, I removed myself from the situations that no longer brought me joy to discover a whole new world. Flash forward to today: I am happier, healthier, and more fulfilled than I have ever been.

People always ask me what is the secret to my happiness, and it all comes back to being true to yourself.

So often we have dreams tucked in our heart—things we know would make us happ but we don’t do much about it because of fear.

In today’s video filmed in exotic Morocco, I share three empowering and essential steps to help you be true to yourself.

Enjoy.

Great advice. I had the call to follow what I love at the start of 2016, and my inner guide is calling me again with the same message. I had the courage to take some steps during the year, but not go the full distance. I pray in 2017 I will. Thanks for the ongoing encouragement, Shannon. PS: You look fabulous!
