Feel Like Something’s Missing: 5 Essential Questions To Ask Yourself

Many people ask how I did it. How did I leave corporate? How did I find the courage? The truth is, I believed in myself and trusted the journey. I also studied successful people and characteristics and traits they had.

Do you ever look at someone and think, “Wow, they certainly have it figured out”? “I want what they have; they make it look so easy.”

Becoming successful and reaching your goals can happen much easier when you ask the right questions. As it turns out, there are certain questions successful people ask themselves daily. Whether your goal is to lose weight, get out of debt, find your soul mate, or land your dream job, these questions will help you.

To keep myself focused, I created a list of key questions I could ask myself daily to align with my joy and make sure I was on track. If you are looking for more clarity, focus, or courage, you might enjoy these powerful questions.

If you want to be successful beyond your wildest dreams, ask yourself the questions. I did, and they transformed my life.

  1. Am I letting failure define me?

People often ask me who my heroes are. I often say Thomas Edison. He said, “I am not a failure, I just found 1,000 ways electricity will not work.” But with a little more perseverance, electricity was born. Never give up on your dreams — keep going! With each new failure you have a new opportunity to achieve success. If you aren’t failing enough, you aren’t trying hard enough.

My last book was rejected by 20 publishers, but it found the right home with the perfect publisher at the right time and went on to become an Amazon best-seller. Believe in yourself and keep learning from the setbacks.

  1. How much joy do I feel?

Successful people gauge their success by the amount of fun they’re having. Successful people absolutely love their jobs, so for many it doesn’t feel like they work a day of their life — in fact, it’s mostly play. Gauge your success by how much joy you feel.

  1. Do I use my fear to motivate action?

We all have fears, but the difference between successful people and those who ignore their dreams is fear and how it is used. Successful people use their fear to motivate them to action instead of letting it take them out of the game and pull them under. Fear can be used as a tool to help guide you to your inspiration.

  1. Am I connected to my inspiration?

The world’s happiest people stay inspired and use their inspiration to create new ideas. Inspiration is the catalyst to self-actualization.

  1. Am I in a state of flow?

Uber happy people ride the waves of life with grace and ease instead of fighting against the current and pushing in directions that are closed. Relax into the natural rhythm of your life and watch your dreams come true.

    Hello Shannon,
I’d like to tell you that you’re amazing and such an inspiration to me. Because of you I left my job of 13 years and moved across the united states to start a new life for myself. Thank you! Now that I’m in my new life I am having trouble finding what my lifes purpose is. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you for being you!

YES!! This is SO great!! That Edison quote is amazing – I have it in my office next to a beautiful framed card with a Chinese Proverb, “Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.” My mom gave it to me years ago when my first book was caught in a storm of rejections – happens to so many of us – but you know what they say comes after the rain…! Both quotes are so key for every entrepreneur and author to keep in mind. Thanks for writing and sharing this post! 🙂

    Hi Shannon,

What we tell ourselves is vital to life. You gave 5 excellent tips.
The two that stood out most to me were how we respond to our fears.
We can use fear as power to keep going.
The other was the flow of life.
Life has a natural flow. We can’t let fear, insecurities or doubt stop our flow of joy.
    Thanks for the motivation!
    Vernon
