3 Things You Must Let Go Of Before the New Year

Click to watch.

Do you feel weighed down by specific people or situations? December is an important month because it sets the stage for the next year. Use this time of year to reflect on your goals and focus forward with clarity.Use this time to consciously create a stronger foundation for your life, which means walking away from things that drag you down.

This is an ideal time of year to release old thought patterns, fears, relationships, situations and things that no longer serve you. It shifts you into the closing down of the previous year and prepares you for the one ahead.

Rather than spending time focusing on what isn’t working, pull all of your energy into what is going well and focus on what you want. Use deliberate action toward those goals and you’ll see changes happen quickly.

In the spirit of preparing for the new year and releasing what no longer serves you, here are 3 things to let go of before 2015.

1. Let go of thinking you aren’t where you’re supposed to be.

Everything you’ve done has helped you become who you’re meant to be.

2. Let go of wondering “WHY” this is happening to you.

Instead ask what you can learn from the situation.

3. Let go of the idea that things aren’t working out for you and it’s too late for you.

Everything is really much better than you can imagine.

    Shannon,
Thanks for your post! I particularly liked #2: accept yourself in the process. It seems that when we are striving for a goal we spend much of our time feeling “not enough” because we are still striving and have not reached the finish line (which I believe is an illusion anyway).
Michael Hyatt interviewed several successful entrepreneurs about how they make the new year their best ever. One of the answers was also “choose what to let go of”. We all need to make space for new better habits by letting go of old ones that are not serving us. He also found that many successful people do a review of the previous year, making a list of their “wins”; taking time to forgive other and (especially) themselves; and making a gratitude list for the previous year.
I like to add a list of things I am grateful for in the upcoming year as a way of setting positive intentions for the new year.
Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday!
